DANBURY, Conn. — Joshua A. Weinshank, a Ridgefield resident and an attorney with a Danbury law firm, was named to the Associate Board of the Danbury Hospital & New Milford Hospital Foundation.

Weinshank is a partner with Cramer & Anderson, where he primarily practices estate planning and elder law.

The board raises money for technologies, equipment, programs, and departments at both hospitals.

Its job is to "mobilize philanthropic support to benefit and advance the programs and services of Danbury Hospital and New Milford Hospital,” said Grace Linhard, chief development officer for Western Connecticut Health Network.

Weinshank likened the volunteers to "ambassadors for the hospital in terms of raising awareness for new technologies, new programs or new departments."

“We’re educated by the hospital about new trends and technology so we can help educate the community," he said.

The Associate Board also plays an active role in assisting with the hospitals’ major fundraising events, including the annual Rx for Fashion Gala and the WCHN Cancer Golf Tournament.

“The foundation seeks contributions from individuals, corporations, foundations and other organizations interested in supporting the hospitals and the network," Linhard said.

The WCHN Cancer Golf Tournament is scheduled for Monday, June 5, at the Rolling Hills Country Club in Wilton. Click here for details.

This year’s gala is scheduled for Oct. 28 at the O’Neill Center at Western Connecticut State University.

Last year, Weinshank was appointed to the new Planned Giving Committee formed by Ability Beyond, a Bethel-based organization that “helps thousands of people with physical and mental disabilities discover their abilities and become a part of their communities.” Early this year, Weinshank was named Co-Chair of the committee.
