Western Connecticut State University Hosts Art Lecture Series

DANBURY, Conn. – Art historian and critic David Cohen will give the next lecture in a series hosted by Western Connecticut State University's Master of Fine Arts in Visual Arts program.

Cohen’s lecture will be Feb. 3 at Viewing Room 2 of White Hall at the school’s Midtown campus. All lectures are free and the public is invited. All other lectures will be held in Viewing Room 1.

Cohen is publisher and editor of artcritical.com. He also moderates The Review Panel, a series of panel discussions that take place at the National Academy Museum in New York and at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia.

Cohen teaches at the Pratt Institute, Fashion Institute of Technology, New York Studio School and Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.

His lecture will be “Their Blood in Our Veins: Schools of London and the Old Masters.” Cohen will examine the various degrees of obsession among contemporary British artists with the old masters, from Lucian Freud and Francis Bacon to Jenny Saville and Cecily Brown, via Merlin James and the YBAs (Young British Artists).
