Bethel Authorities Update Residents On Status Of Tree Debris

As the region continues recovering from Tuesday’s storm, Bethel officials said there is “no plan at this time to pick up debris from homeowners,” though crews will be cleaning up debris in local roadways over several weeks.

According to town officials, “any tree debris that is near the roads that the Department of Public Works and Eversource crews cut and cleared to open the roads was noted and will be picked up by the Bethel DPW and contractors in the next two weeks.

Motorists have advised to use extra caution when driving through town where trees were felled. “DPW crews will get to those areas to finish the cleanup, but it will take time.”

All roads were cleared and the Bethel Public School District remains on a normal schedule, though certain bus stops have been temporarily changed, officials noted. As of 2:00 p.m. on Friday, 34,173 of Eversource’s 1,270,056 customers - including 565 in Bethel - remain without power, with an estimated restoration date of approximately midnight.
