DANBURY, Conn. -- The Clean Start Program, an initiative proposed by Mayor Mark Boughton as a way to put homeless residents to work for the city, is up and running in Danbury, according to WLAD.com
The program, which provides homeless residents with gift cards for litter collection, is a collaborative effort between Danbury and the Jericho Partnership, said WLAD.com.
Homeless residents who volunteer for the program are provided mentoring and paid with a $35 gift card after each half-workday. The program is aimed at providing a gateway to full-time employment for the area's homeless, added WLAD.com.
