The new facility will be on Old Ridgebury Road.

On Friday, it was announced that the State Bond Commission approved $1.2 million in state financing to support building the new hospice residential facility. The facility will include the Healing Hearts Center for Children and Families program in Danbury.

The envisioned two-story, more than 30,000-square-foot space will include 12 patient suites with balconies, according to its website. The clinical and administrative areas will be housed on the second floor of the hospice residence building.

These comprehensive offerings mark an unprecedented advancement in hospice and palliative care in Western Connecticut and neighboring New York State, the group said.

“This is a wise and compassionate investment of state funds, and it is much appreciated,” state Sen. Michael McLachlan said. “These funds will help many people in western Connecticut, and I thank my fellow Danbury legislators for speaking with one, united voice on this project. It will benefit our region for decades to come.”
