Danbury Mayor Offers Condolences To Newtown Shooting Victims

NEWTOWN, Conn. – In the wake of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School that killed 20 children and six adults, Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton offered his condolences to the victims in Newtown.

"The loss of any individual in our community affects each of us deeply,” Boughton said in a press release. “We are significantly impacted today by the loss of these young children and those who were protecting them. Our community will continue to pray for our neighbors in Newtown and for all those who have been affected by this tragedy. The City of Danbury is ready at a moment's notice to assist our neighbors in Newtown if needed."

Boughton said he has reached out to Newtown officials and offered any help or assistance that Danbury can provide. He also thanked the first responders, teachers and staff and praised their heroic action that he said was “undoubtedly instrumental in saving the lives of many.”
