Area residents can drop off and dispose of prescription and over-the-counter drugs between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Danbury Police Headquarters, 375 Main St.
Officials will then properly dispose of the medications.
Improper medication storage and disposal can pollute the waterways, cause accidental poisoning among children, and encourage prescription drug abuse, according to a press release.
Chemotherapeutic drugs and sharp items, such as needles and syringes, will not be accepted.
