The Danbury Police Department received a call at 7:13 a.m. from Danbury High School saying that some students had received text messages from a 16-year-old female student who was threatening to kill herself.

Officers responded to the girl’s home in Danbury and began to search for her, police said. The girl was found on the top level of the parking garage of the Danbury Hospital on Locust Avenue, police said.

She was found standing on a ledge and responding officers attempted to talk to her, police said. However, she jumped off the ledge, police said.

The girl was taken into the Emergency Room, where she was treated for injuries sustained in the fall.

She was later transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital for further treatment with her condition being listed as critical as of Wednesday afternoon, police said.
