Danbury's Musicals At Richter Announces 2015 Season

DANBURY, Conn. – Musicals at Richter, Connecticut’s longest-running outdoor theater, has announced its 2015 offerings.

The season features three full-scale Broadway musical favorites, along with two summer youth musical theater workshop productions and the Fairy Tale Theater children’s series.

MAR opens its season June 12-27 with "Once Upon a Mattress," which is directed and choreographed by MAR founding artistic director Bradford Blake. The next performance is "Hairspray," which runs July 3-18 and is directed and choreographed by MAR veteran Matthew Farina. The season concludes July 24 to Aug. 8 with "Annie Get Your Gun," which is directed and choreographed by MAR artistic director Lauren Nicole Sherwood. 

Summer Youth Musical Theater Workshops Musicals at Richter will offer two sections of its popular, tuition-based program, each culminating in a full-scale production. Session one will be "Broadway Bound" for ages 8-16, June 22 to July 17, with performances July 13-15. Camp day is from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Session two will be Peter Pan Jr. “You Can Fly, You Can Fly, You Can Fly!” for ages 8-16, July 20 to Aug. 15, with performances Aug. 13-15. For the youngest theatergoers, Musicals at Richter’s Fairy Tale Theater program holds performances Saturday mornings at Danbury's Wooster School. Grounds open at 10:30 a.m. Performance is at 11 a.m. All tickets are $5. The 2015 Fairy Tale productions are “Sleeping Beauty” (July 4); “The Sword in the Stone” (July 11); “The Emperor’s New Clothes” and “The Princess & The Pea” (July 18); and “Alice in Wonderland” (July 25).
