FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — The snowfall totals were small on Saturday for Fairfield County, but the impact on traffic was big.

Here are the snow totals for Saturday from the National Weather Service:

  • Bridgeport Airport: 1.9 inches
  • Norwalk: 1.5 inches
  • New Canaan: 1.4 inches
  • Stamford: 1.3 inches
  • Stratford: 1.3 inches
  • Shelton: 1.2 inches
  • Huntington: 1.2 inches
  • Weston: 1.1 inches
  • New Fairfield: 1.0 inches
  • Brookfield: 0.6 inches

The Connecticut State Police responded to dozens of crashes on the state's highways and roads.

"Snow is falling in several areas across the state, and it might not be heavy or sticking to all surfaces, but with these very low temperatures roads still may be slick," state police said on Saturday.

Temperatures were in teens on Saturday. The forecast calls for high temps near 15 degrees again on Sunday under sunny skies. And by Sunday night, as it nears midnight, temperatures are expected to drop to near 0, with wind chills of -5 to -10.
