March Comes In Like A Lion As Latest Snowstorm Hits Danbury

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Sunday marked the first day of a new month, but Fairfield County residents saw the same old weather scenario as March indeed came in like a lion.

By Monday morning, residents were left with a heavy blanket of snow to cover. Most area school districts are on a two-hour delay due to road conditions.

The National Weather Service supplied snowfall totals during the storm on Sunday: 

  • Weston: 7.5 inches as of 11:30 p.m.
  • Darien: 7 inches as of midnight
  • Stamford: 6 inches as of 10:30 p.m.
  • Fairfield: 6 inches as of 9:10 p.m.
  • Norwalk: 5.8 inches as of 10:30 p.m.
  • Easton: 5.5 inches as of 10:35 p.m.
  • New Canaan: 5.6 inches as of 11 p.m.
  • Bridgeport: 5 inches as of 8 p.m. 
  • Danbury: 5 inches as of midnight
  • New Canaan: 4.6 inches as of 8 p.m.
  • Greenwich: 4.5 inches as of 10:15 p.m. 

The snow was mixed overnight with sleet and freezing rain. 

Driving conditions will be hazardous into the Monday morning commute with slippery conditions. 

Areas farther south will see less accumulation with 2 to 3 inches expected in New York City.

The outlook for Monday calls for cloudy skies, followed by gradual clearing with the high temperature climbing to about 35 degrees.
