FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – A meteor shower visible in the skies above Fairfield County will kick off Memorial Day weekend, CNN reports.
Viewers can stay up late - or get up early. The meteor shower is forecast for 2 to 4 a.m. Saturday in Eastern Daylight Time Zone.
CNN reports that the meteor shower Camelopardalids, also known as "the giraffe," could show 200 to 1,000 meteors an hour.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms into the evening and overnight could obscure viewing of the meteor showers in Fairfield County.
If you have trouble viewing, NASA's website will host a live chat on the celestial event from 11 p.m. Friday until 3 a.m. Saturday. It will also offer a live view of the skies over Huntsville, Ala., during the height of the meteor shower.
This is the first time in nearly a generation that a new shower has shown up.
