By late afternoon, sidewalks in Danbury were covered with snow, and streets were beginning to show a coating of snow, slush and ice.

It was just the start, though, with a Blizzard Warning in place until midnight Tuesday. The coating of snow was expected to increase to 15 to 24 inches or more by Tuesday evening.

Danbury City Hall and all Danbury schools will be closed on Tuesday.

The city has put a Level 2 snow emergency in place. Residents are ordered to remove all cars from city streets to help with snow-removal efforts. Mayor Mark Boughton also reminded residents to clear sidewalks and check on neighbors as the storm develops.
