Lanza told the New Yorker he had not seen his son in two years at the time of the shooting that left 20 first-grades and six educators dead at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Although he said it never could have been predicted, he still questions himself and wonders if he could have helped prevent the tragedy all together.

Lanza went on to say that it took him six months for a sense of reality to set in about what his son did and that even now, he doesn't fully understand what took place, the New Yorker said.
