Pregnant Woman Killed, Baby Delivered After Crash On I-95 In Stonington

STONINGTON, Conn. -- A woman who was nine months pregnant was killed in a car crash on Interstate 95 in Stonington on Tuesday, but doctors were able to deliver her child via emergency C-section, according to NBC Connecticut.

Alexandra Brown, 26, of Niantic struck a metal rope guard rail near exit 91 and was ejected from her vehicle. She was not wearing her seatbelt, NBC Connecticut reported. 

Brown was taken to Westerly Hospital where the baby was delivered and subsequently taken to Women and Infants Hospital of Rhode Island. The newborn is listed in critical but stable condition, NBC Connecticut said.
