Sherman Volunteer Firefighter Killed In Motorcycle Crash In New Fairfield

SHERMAN, Conn. — A 51-year-old Sherman man was killed in a motorcycle crash on Route 37 in New Fairfield on his way home from work on Wednesday evening, according to the News-Times.

Mario Luis, a member of the volunteer fire department, lost control of his motorcycle on Route 37 near Handol Lane at about 7:30 p.m. and struck a wall and telephone pole, the News-Times said. 

Flags have been ordered to fly at half-staff in Sherman in memory of Luis the town announced.

Luis, who was named Firefighter of the Year last year, is survived by his wife, Victoria Luis; and children Kristina Luis, Justin Luis and Alyssa Louis, the story said.
