Michael Maida, 45, who lives in Danbury, was in Stamford Superior Court on Wednesday for pretrial discovery, greenwichtime.com reported. The trial will now be put on the docket, but no dates for trial or jury selection have been set, greenwichtime.com reported.
Maida has been charged with second-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor, according to police. Both are Class B felonies.
The alleged incident took place in the fall of 2009, according to Convent of the Sacred Heart. Maida, who has been employed by Sacred Heart for 17 years, denies the allegations and has been placed on administrative leave.
The victim claims to have been tutored after school by Maida, however, there are no school or personal records that show Maida ever tutored the girl, according to the arrest warrant.
The investigation also discovered she spent time at a psychiatric facility in 2011 after claiming to hear voices, according to warrants.Read more about the case here in the Daily Voice.
The charge in question applies to sexual intercourse involving a person between the ages of 13 and 15 and someone three years or more older, according to the state penal code.
Convent of the Sacred Heart is an independent, Catholic day school for girls from kindergarten through Grade 12 with a coed preschool and prekindergarten, according to its website.
