FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- "Get Up and Give" with Whole Foods Market on Thursday, March 3, as a run-up to Fairfield County's Giving Day, on March 10.
Whole Foods Market locations throughout Fairfield County will be joining Giving Day as a champion partner by donating 5 percent of their total revenues on March 3 from their Danbury, Darien, Fairfield, Greenwich and Westport stores. This money will directly benefit local nonprofits and power the Giving Day "Get Up And Give" launch prizes.
These prizes are to motivate donors to donate early and quickly on March 10 Fairfield County’s Giving Day: they can win a $1,000 grant prize for their favorite nonprofit.
"Fairfield County’s Community Foundation is honored to partner with a business that is a socially conscience, philanthropic champion in the community like Whole Foods Market," said Juanita James, CEO and president of Fairfield County's Community Foundation.
On March 3, local Whole Foods Market locations will also host area nonprofits participating in Giving Day to showcase their missions and causes:
- Darien -- Domus Kids and Ferguson Library;
- Westport -- Earthplace;
- Fairfield -- Wakeman Boys and Girls Club & Center for Family Justice;
- Danbury -- Danbury Animal Welfare Society; and
- Greenwich -- Abilis.
"Fairfield County’s Giving Day is an incredible online event for every community member who lives or works in the region to give where you live," a news release noted. More than 400 nonprofits participate to raise much-needed funds and to increase awareness about their amazing work throughout Fairfield County.
"Giving Day is close to our hearts because we come together as a community to support our neighbors and achieve something huge. Last year, $1,066,000 was raised in just 24 hours. We aim to break records in giving this year," said James.
For the third year, Fairfield County’s Giving Day allows residents and businesses to "give where they live." This fundraising marathon is spearheaded by Fairfield County’s Community Foundation to empower the greater community and encourage local philanthropy.
Giving day begins at 12 a.m. on March 10, at FCGives.org, and folks can choose from their favorite local causes.
