Worker Falls From Scaffolding In Brewster, Dies At Danbury Hospital

A 52-year-old construction worker who fell from  scaffolding on Route 22 in Brewster, N.Y., on Wednesday died of his injuries at Danbury Hospital, New York State Police said.

At 7:30 a.m., Keith P. Bonnes of Cortlandt Manor, N.Y., fell approximately 15 to 20 feet from Hydro Mobile scaffolding at 899 Route 22, which is the address for Lia Honda Brewster, according to NY state police.

A co-worker immediately contacted Putnam County 911 to report the incident, police said. Moments later, Brewster EMS, EMStar Ambulance, and the Village of Brewster Police arrived on the scene and rendered medical assistance, police said. 

Bonnes reportedly sustained a head and chest injury as a result of the fall, police said.

He was transported to Danbury Hospital by EMStar and was reported to be conscious, police said.

But upon his arrival to Danbury Hospital, Bonnes went into cardiac arrest and was subsequently pronounced dead several hours after the accident, state police said.

The incident, which appears to be accidental in nature, remains under investigation. 

Additionally, the Occupational Safety Health Administration was notified.
