Angelina Sapienza, 71, Of Danbury

DANBURY, Conn. - Angelina Sapienza of Danbury, formerly of Norwalk, died Friday, Dec. 12. She was 71.

Sapienza was born Jan. 18, 1943, in Sersale, Calabria, Italy, to Nicola and Catherine Rotella. She immigrated to the United States in 1964, settling in Norwalk. She moved to Danbury in 1969 and raised her family here.

Sapienza is survived by her husband, Benito Sapienza; children, Maria Ferber (Adam) of New Fairfield, Massimo Sapienza (Ann) of New Milford, Rosa Sovek (Charles) of Centreville, Va., Angie Dawson (Matt) of Warren, N.Y., and Barbara Brown (James) of Torrington; eight grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and siblings, Carmela Falbo of Weston, Josephine Mercurio of Norwalk and Angelo Rotella of Westport. She was predeceased by her parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 16 at St. Joseph Church, Danbury. Entombment will be in the Mausoleum at Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.

Contributions in memory of Sapienza may be made to the Nelson Gelfman Dialysis Unit at Danbury Hospital, c/o the Western Connecticut Health Network Foundation, 24 Hospital Ave., Danbury.
