DANBURY, Conn. Anis Y. Nassif of Danbury died Sept. 3 after a battle with pulmonary fibrosis, surrounded by his family at Duke University Hospital in Durham, N.C. He was 75.
Nassif was born Jan. 9, 1937, in Mouktara, Lebanon to Yousef and Fareeda Salem Nassif. He attended schools in Lebanon and was married to Josephine Shoushani Nassif for 40 years.
A 36-year resident of Danbury, Nassif was a self-employed businessman. Along with his wife, Josephine, he owned and operated Danbury Beauty Supply. He was a member of the Lebanon American Club of Danbury and served on the board of directors for the Catholic War Veterans Post 1042 of Danbury and St. Ann Melkite Catholic Church.
Nassif is survived by three daughters, Nadine Nassif, Zeina Nassif and Freda Nassif; a brother, Najib Nassif, of Lebanon; a sister, Fedwa Zarrini, of Lebanon; and a nephew. He was predeceased by a sister, Najla Nassif.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at St. Ann Melkite Church in Danbury, with a Trisagion prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home in Danbury is in charge of arrangements.
The rite of burial will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Ann Melkite Church in Danbury, with the Rev. Archimandrite Michael Skrocki officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery in Danbury.
