Anthony Filipowicz, 84, Of Danbury

DANBURY, Conn. – Anthony V. Filipowicz, 84, of Danbury, formerly of Somers, N.Y., husband of Catherine (Cautela) Filipowicz, died on Jan. 2 at his residence.

"Tony" was born in Queens, N.Y., on July 27, 1930, the son of Anthony and Viola (Beers) Filipowicz. He attended New York schools. A resident of Danbury for the past 17 years, he was a former resident of Staten Island, N.Y.

He was a retired insurance executive with the Gallagher Newman Insurance Agency of White Plains, N.Y.

He enjoyed deep-sea fishing and attended St. Peter Parish of Danbury. In addition to his wife of 31 years, he is survived by two sons: Steven Filipowicz (Catherine) of Strausburg, N.Y. and Gerald Filipowicz (Keka) of Staten Island, N.Y.; a daughter, Linda Filipowicz and her partner, Michel Schaffner of Stone Ridge, N.Y.; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave. in Danbury on Monday from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Peter Church, 121 Main St., Danbury. Burial will follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
