Antoinette P. Catino, 89, Of Danbury

DANBURY, Conn. -- Antoinette (Cortese) Catino, 89, of Danbury and formerly of Stamford, wife of the late Carmen Catino, died Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Danbury Hospital. 

She was born March 22, 1927 in Stamford, a daughter of John and Rose (Monte) Cortese. She attended Stamford schools and graduated from Stamford High School. 

A retired salesperson in the fashion and dress department with the former Caldor Store, Catino was one of the earliest employees of Caldor. She then became a salesperson with Family Owned Bridal Salon of Stamford. 

A resident of Danbury since 1993 coming from Stamford, Catino was a former member of Sacred Heart Parish of Stamford and attended St. Peter Church of Danbury. 

She loved crocheting, music and, most especially, the time shared with her family. 

Catino is survived by a daughter, Diane Sadowski of Danbury; a son, John Catino of Milford; and three grandchildren, Amy Sadowski, Leonard Sadowski Jr. and Chelsey Lynn Ripperger and her husband, Charles. 

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son-in-law, Leonard M. Sadowski Sr.; two sisters, Louise Conetta (Patsy) and Victoria Tassitano (John); and three brothers, Samuel Cortese (Carmella), Salvatore Cortese (Rose) and Joseph Cortese (Sylvia).

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m.Saturday in St. Peter Church, 121 Main St., Danbury. Interment will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Darien. 

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m.Friday in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank the staff of Laurel Ridge Health Care Center of Ridgefield and the Danbury Hospital for the care and concern extended to their mother and family.
