DANBURY, Conn. – Danbury resident Betsy Palmer, a longtime film and TV actress whose career spanned 50-plus years, died May 29, the New York Times reported. She was 88.
Born Patricia Betsy Hrunek in East Chicago, Ind., on Nov. 1, 1926, Palmer's career featured stints on game shows like “I've Got A Secret,” Broadway productions of “Cactus Flower” and “Same Time Next Year” and parts in “Mister Roberts” and “The Tin Star.”
Her best-known role was as Mrs. Voorhees in 1980's “Friday the 13th,” taking the part only because she needed the money to buy a new car, noted the Times.
