Charles Cunniffe Jr., 66, Retired IT Worker, Of Danbury

DANBURY, Conn. – Charles T. Cunniff Jr. of Danbury died Dec. 8 at his home with family by his side. He was 66.

He was born July 5, 1946, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to the late Ethel and Charles T. Cunniff Sr. He attended Masuk High School in Monroe, Conn., and served in the U.S. Navy. Cunniff was stationed at Barbers Point Naval Air Station in Oahu, Hawaii.

In 1973, he joined the Danbury Fire Department, where he served for four years before going on to work in the IT department for Boehringer Ingelheim Company in Ridgefield until his retirement.

Cunniff was married to Nancy Abbott Cunniff and was a longtime member of St. Joseph Church, where he has served as a lector, Eucharistic minister and parish council member.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Melissa (Bob) Jennings, of Danbury; a half-sister, K.C. Dye, of Sequim, Wash.; a half-brother, Frank Meyer, of Brewster, N.Y.; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his stepfather, Francis Meyer; his stepmother, Concetta Cunniff; and a sister, Patricia Waterman.

Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Green Funeral Home in Danbury. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Church in Danbury. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery.
