Dr. Edward P. Kuczko, MD, 87, Of Danbury, Private Practitioner

DANBURY, Conn. - Edward P. Kuczko, MD, of Danbury died Friday, Sept. 12. He was 87.

Dr. Kuczko was born July 31, 1927, in Danbury, to Isadore and Stella (Wojcik) Kuczko. He attended Danbury schools, graduated from Danbury High School - Class of 1944, Niagara University and New York University School of Medicine. He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Korean War and honorably discharged as a second lieutenant. He served his internship and residency at St. Vincent’s Hospital of Bridgeport.

He later established his private practice of obstetrics and gynecology in Danbury and served as chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology for several years at Danbury Hospital where he was affiliated in active practice and remained during his retirement. He was one of the first physicians along with Dr. Guido R. Gianfranceschi to establish private practices in the Danbury area specializing solely in obstetrics and gynecology.

Dr. Kuczko was a parishioner of St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, was active as a lector and a member of the Order of St. Sharbel. He was a member of the American Medical Society, Connecticut Medical Society, Fairfield County Medical Association and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Anne; daughters, Karen G. Skiba and her companion Tony Don and Mary Kathryn Delisle (Vinnie); four grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Joseph Kuczko.

Calling hours are Wednesday, Sept. 17 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 17 Granville Ave., Danbury. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 17 in St. Anthony Church with the Rev. Naji K. Kiwan officiating. A  private interment will take place Thursday, Sept. 18 in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
