Dr. Robert P. Porper, 71, Of Stamford, Oral And Maxillofacial Surgeon

DANBURY, Conn. - Dr. Robert P. Porper of Danbury, formerly of Westchester County, N.Y., died  Thursday, March 6. He was 71.

Dr. Porper was born April 30, 1942, in the Bronx, N.Y., he was the son of Herbert and Lillian (Adelman) Porper. He attended New York schools. He graduated with a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from the University Of Pittsburgh Dental School. He also completed an anesthesia residency at Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa., in addition to an oral and maxillofacial surgery program at Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Jacobi Hospital, Bronx N.Y. He was a retired oral and maxillofacial surgeon.

In 1987, Dr. Porper founded a company called CompreServ, Inc., a healthcare management company, in addition to a company called Innovative Health Care Products, Inc. He also founded and was CEO/president and shareholder of a Mediciaid HMO called CarePlus Health Plan, in New York.

Dr. Porper has been area resident for the past 16 years coming from Westchester County, N.Y.

Dr. Porper is survived by his wife, Joan (Porter) Porper; son, Jeffrey Porper of Stamford; daughter, Shannon Morcey (Peter) of Waterbury; sister, Susan Goldfarb (Jonathan) of White Plains, N.Y.; a granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Monday, March 10 from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8p.m. in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield. Funeral services will take place Tuesday, March 11 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield.
