DANBURY, Conn. - Florence Leas Duckworth of Danbury died Monday, April 28. She was 84.
Duckworth was born Oct. 27, 1929, in Norwalk, she and the daughter of John H. and Harriet (Godfrey) Leas. She attended Norwalk schools and graduated from Norwalk High School. She was employed at Western Connecticut State University in the food service department; a position she held for 25 years, retiring in 1994. She was a member of the Northeast Baptist Church of Danbury.
Duckworth is survived by her sister, Phyllis Zagarella of Danbury; brothers, Alfred Leas of Norwalk and Roger Leas of Justin, Texas; stepson, Joseph Duckworth (Deb); several nieces and nephews and extended family of Northeast Baptist Church. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Joseph Duckworth, Sr.; sister, Betty (Purdy) Coley; and brothers, Henry Leas and Edward Leas.
Calling hours are after 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 5 at Northeast Baptist Church, 101 East Pembroke Road, Danbury. Funeral services will take place Monday, May 5 at 11 a.m. in the church, with Pastor Joe Vassak officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Norwalk.
