Francis R. Varian Sr., 80, Former Danbury Resident, Self-Employed Carpenter

DANBURY, Conn. - Francis (Skip) R. Varian Sr., formerly of Danbury, died Sept. 14. He was 80.

Varian was born Jan. 1, 1934, in Danbury, to Frank and Louise (Fournier) Varian. He attended Danbury schools and graduated from Danbury High School. He was a Veteran of the Korean War in the United States Marine Corp. He was a self-employed carpenter and also owned and operated All-Clean Carpet Cleaners until he retired and moved with his wife to Ocala, Fla., Williamston, S.C. and Auburn, Ga. He was a past member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danbury.

Varian is survived by his daughter, Barbara L. Manna (John) of Lawrenceville, Ga.; sons, Francis R. Varian, Jr. (Cheryl) of Bethel and Keith C. Varian (Sharon) of Danbury; sisters-in-law, Veronica Varian of The Villages, Fla., and Ellen Blom (Andrew); brothers-in-law, George Reiss (Barbara) and William Reiss (Pat) all of Danbury; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a cousin; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Barbara J. (Reiss) Varian; and brother, Raymond.

Calling hours are Saturday, Sept. 20 from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Danbury.
