He was born Aug. 10, 1944, in Jersey City, N.J., to Paul and Tillie Sadlowsky Czap. He lived in Danbury for more than 40 years and owned and operated Barbara and Fred’s Jewelry on Germantown Road with his wife for more than 25 years.

The highlight of Czap's week was watching football with his grandchildren, his family said. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family on the Jersey Shore.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Paul (Jacqueline) Czap, of Danbury; a sister, Marlene Wolfram; and three grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Christine.
