Dimyan was born May 17, 1931, in Danbury, to Joseph and Celia (Jowdy) Dimyan. He attended Danbury schools and graduated from Danbury High School in the Class of 1949. He was captain of the Danbury High School varsity baseball and basketball teams.
He joined the family business, Dimyan's Market in Danbury upon graduation and later co-owned with his brother Edmond for 35 years. For the past 30 years, he was associated with the former Dimyan's Wholesale which became Dandy Distributors. A lifelong Danbury resident, he was a member of St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church and the Lebanon-American Club both of Danbury.
Dimyan is survived by his wife, June (Alhage) Dimyan; sons, George J. Dimyan (Diana) of New Fairfield and Michael P. Dimyan (Jennifer) of Newtown; daughters, Doreen M. Goncalves (Gary) of Danbury, Susan A. Dimyan of Danbury and Dawn M. Lauf (Jay) of Fairfield; 12 grandchildren; many cousins; nieces, nephews; and grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Edmond Dimyan and Kamil Salame; and sister, Mary Dimyan Basher.
Calling hours are Friday, Dec. 19 from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. in St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Dec. 19 at 6:45 p.m. in St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 17 Granville Ave., Danbury with the Rev. Naji K. Wakim officiating. Interment will be private Saturday, Dec. 20 at St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
