George Sager, 87, Longtime Danbury Resident

DANBURY, Conn. — Longtime Danbury resident George "Ziggy" Sager died Friday, May 6. He was 87.

A Danbury native, Sager attended Danbury schools and graduated from Danbury High School. 

He was employed with the former Bonadio Candy and Tobacco Company of Danbury as a route salesman. 

Sager also was a member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church of Danbury and its men's club. 

He is survived by two sisters, Sara Sager of Danbury and Helen Folwarski and her husband, John; a niece Erica; nephew David and his wife Sona; and grandniece Karina. 

The Rite of Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 30 Clapboard Ridge Road. (Route 39N), Danbury with the Very Rev. George Alberts, pastor of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, Danbury officiating. 

Burial will follow in Wooster Cemetery, in Danbury. 

The family will receive friends from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Tuesday at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church.
