James Billings, 80, Of Danbury

DANBURY, Conn. – James Patrick (Shamus) Billings, of Danbury, died on Tuesday, Sept. 1. He was 80.

Billings was born in Stamford on Aug. 2, 1935, to James T. and Catherine McGovern Billings.

He graduated from Stamford High School, enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard and served for four years. He attended Westchester Community College.

He worked for the AH Emery Company and Eaton Corp of Bethel until retirement.

Billings is survived by his wife Elizabeth, two daughters, Deborah Myhill and Denise Pierce, and sons-in-law Eric Myhill and Michael Pierce; three granddaughters, Rebecca Myhill, Abigail Myhill, and Caitlyn Pierce; and sisters Mildred Smith and Patricia Frattaroli.

Visiting hours will be on Friday, Sept. 4, from 4 to 8 pm at Bouton Funeral Home, 31 West Church Street in Georgetown.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 5, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Georgetown.

Interment will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery in Fairfield.

Donations can be made to either the Wounded Warrior Project or Alzheimer's Association of Connecticut.
