James V. Mangine, 92, Of Danbury, Retired Army Sergeant

DANBURY, Conn. - James V. Mangine of Danbury died Thursday, Oct. 2. He was 92.

Mangine was born in Tuckahoe, N.Y., to Frank and Maria Giordano Mangine. He attended Assumption Catholic School in Tuckahoe and then enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was an Army officer and retired after 22 years of service attaining the rank of sergeant. He served in the European and Asiatic Theaters of War. He moved to Danbury over 50 years ago and was a member of the VFM Post # 149.

Mangine is survived by his nieces, Susan A. Spadaro (Vinny) and Maria A. Mower, all of Eastchester, N.Y.; nephew Charles Mower of Tacoma, Wash.; two great nephews; and a niece. He was predeceased by his parents; and wife, Marguerite Mangine.

Calling hours are Tuesday, Oct. 7 from 5 to 7p.m. at the Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury. Funeral Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7 at the funeral home. Entombment will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8 at Ferncliff Mausoleum, Secor Road, Hartsdale.
