John W. Baird, 93, Of Danbury, Retired Design And Draftsman

DANBURY, Conn. - John W. Baird of Danbury died Friday, Oct. 24. He was 93.

Baird was born May 14, 1921, and was raised in Staten Island and Manhattan, N.Y., to Edward and Florence (Widdicombe) Baird. He attended New York schools and Yale University. After serving in World War II with the U.S. Army, he moved to Danbury. He was a retired manufacturing company design and draftsman. He was a member of St. Peter Parish of Danbury.

Baird is survived by his daughters, Peggy Tattersall and Maureen Baird; sons-in-law, Jim Tattersall and Adel Ibrahim; two grandchildren; several brothers and sisters-in-law; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; wife, Kathleen "Kay" (McGee) Baird;  and sister, Mary.

Calling hours are Wednesday, Oct. 29 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, Oct. 30 at 1:30 p.m. in St Peter Church, 121 Main St., Danbury. Interment will take place at the direction of the family.
