DANBURY, Conn. Maryanne Bernadette Fane Eaton of Danbury died Oct. 17 at her home. She was 76.
Eaton was born July 13, 1936 in New York City to Gerard Sr. and Anna Hassett Fane. She received a bachelor's degree in education from Fordham University in 1957. She received a master's degree in education from Hunter College.
She married John "Jack" O'Connell Eaton, a native of Rutland, Vt., on April 16, 1966. He predeceased her. Eaton taught in Tokyo, Japan for a year and then in New Rochelle, N.Y., and Bronxville, N.Y. In 2001, she received a master's degree in library and information science from Long Island University.
She worked as a librarian at Chappaqua Library in New York for more than 20 years. An avid reader, gardener, homemaker and dog lover, Eaton loved to host parties for family and friends. In 2001, she moved from Westchester County to Danbury, where she was a member of St. Joseph Church.
Eaton is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Eaton of Katonah, N.Y., two sons, Robert of Danbury, and James of Brewster, N.Y., a sister, Sister Eileen Fane of New Rochelle, and two brothers, Gerard Fane of San Francisco, Calif. and Robert Fane of Yonkers, N.Y.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Church in Danbury. Burial will be private. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Green Funeral Home in Danbury.
