DANBURY, Conn. - Lila J. Shaker, a lifelong resident of Danbury, died Thursday, Feb. 6. She was 82.

Shaker was born May 4, 1931, in Danbury; daughter of Michael G. and Jenny (DeLuca) Shaker. She attended St. Joseph School and graduated from Danbury High School in the class of 1949. She joined the Barden Corporation Oct. 1949, and was hired for the quality/engineering Department as secretary, administrative assistant, office service manager and marketing services administrator. She retired after 53 years in 2002.

While working at Barden, she signed up for the Civil Defense Auxiliary Police Force School in 1950. Her main duty was traffic duty and later completed the pistol training course. She worked for the Pinkerton Police at the Danbury Fair in the 70’s and 80’s.

She was a member of St. Ann’s Melkite Church and the Ladies Guild. She was a longtime member of the Lebanon American Club Ladies Auxiliary and served as a past president. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Ladies Guild.

Shaker is survived by her friend of 40 years, Mary Ataya Bayoud; sister, Barbara Archiere; and a niece and three nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; and sister, Jayne Shaker Holmes.

Calling hours are Tuesday, Feb. 11 after 9 a.m. at the St. Ann Melkite Church. The Rite of Burial will take place Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Ann Melkite Catholic Church, 181 Clapboard Ridge Road (Rt 39N), Danbury with the Rt. Rev. Archimandrite Michael Skrocki officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
