DANBURY, Conn. - Sadie M. Bailey, 87, formerly of Danbury, died Aug. 26 in Hollywood, Fla.
Bailey was born on Sept. 8, 1926 in Boston to Joseph and Mary Murad, and was the eldest of eight children. Her family moved to Danbury in 1942, where she attended Danbury High School, and she remained in town for the rest of her life.
She married Carl Bailey Sr. She became involved with St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church. Bailey enjoyed her social connections and enjoyed concerts, dining and engaging in conversation with new and old friends. She also enjoyed preparing Lebanese meals, attending yard and white elephant sales, and all church-related activities.
She is survived by children Richard Bailey, Carl Bailey Jr, and Karen Tarte, five grandchildren, a great-grandson and siblings Peter Murad, Mitchell Murad, Jeanette Bowman, and Sophie Gradia. She was predeceased by siblings Louie Murad, Anna Knapp and Rose Murad.
The family will receive friends in St. Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 17 Granville Ave., Danbury, on Tuesday, Sept. 2, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. with the Rev. Naji J. Kiwan officiating.
The Mercy Meal in Sadie’s memory will be served immediately following the liturgy in St. Anthony’s Church Hall. Interment will take place in St. Peter Cemetery, Section 19 on Wednesday, Sept. 3, at 10 a.m.
