DANBURY, Conn. — Services will be held Wednesday for Danbury High graduate Patrick G. Healey, 21, who died unexpectedly on July 14.
Born July 10, 1995, in Danbury, he was the son of Gerard and Cynthia (Smith) Healey of Danbury.
Healey was a rising senior and varsity cross-country and track and field runner at New York University. He was a committed student and deep thinker who officially studied mathematics and unofficially studied everything else, according to his obituary. He earned University Athletic Association All-Academic honors during the fall, winter and spring seasons this past year, the latest in a long run of academic and athletic honors.
This summer, he was living and working in Manhattan as an intern at AppNexus.
Healey graduated from Danbury High School in 2013 as a member of the National Honor Society and a captain of the conference championship-winning cross-country team, in addition to being an integral part of the indoor and outdoor track and field teams.
When he wasn't running -- and he often was -- Patrick enjoyed reading, coding and spending time with his many friends. He didn't always talk much, but he was always listening.
In addition to his parents, Patrick is survived by older brother Timothy; grandfather Timothy H. Smith and his wife Linda Longmire of Hempstead, N.Y.; grandmother Dania Smith-Feinberg and her husband Stan Feinberg of Wantagh, N.Y.; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Family and friends are encouraged to call at The Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury on Wednesday July 20, from 2 to 5 p.m.
A memorial service will be held at Green Funeral Home after calling hours at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations and/or contributions may be made to Danbury High School Boys and Girls Track and Field and Cross Country for a future Patrick G. Healey Memorial Scholarship Fund.
