Sherrie T. Blount, 31, Of Danbury

DANBURY, Conn. -- Sherrie T. Blount of Danbury, a teacher's aide, died on Saturday, Oct. 8. She was 31.

She was born on June 10, 1985, in Danbury. She is the daughter of James T. Blount IV and Debrorah (Moffett) Blount.

She worked for the Danbury Public Schools as a teacher's aide, where she loved helping kids with special needs. 

Blount loved spending play time with her children, many nieces and nephews, at special events, parks and family gatherings. 

She was creative and enjoyed graphic design, cosmetology and psychology.  Blount was known for her gentle charm, personal magnetism and independence.

She was great at research or any work that required digging, searching, investigating and getting beneath the surface. She was a moving force in the lives of others, especially the young. 

She particularly enjoyed helping others solve their problems and giving them a new perspective when faced with challenges. She was very loyal, loving and down-to-earth friend.

She is survived by her three sons, Christopher Jr., Cortez, Cadien Mejia; her daughter Calei Mejia; stepmother Kelly Horgan; three brothers Tyon, Shane (and his daughter Shanell), James Blount Jr.; and sister MyShawn and husband Corey Artis and their three children. 

She is also survived by her grandparents Joe and Williemae Ottley; grandfather Cleveland Moffett Sr.; and Uncle Cleveland Moffett Jr. 

She is also survived by her best friend and soulmate Devon Taylor, many nieces and nephews and many more family members.

Family and friends may gather from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Mount Pleasant AME Zion Church at 69 Rowan St., Danbury. That will be followed by a homecoming service at 4 p.m.
