Shirley C. DePalma, Former Executive At Union Trust Bank In Danbury

BROOKFIELD, Conn. - Shirley C. DePalma of Brookfield died Monday, July 28. She was 81.

DePalma was born in Danbury, the daughter of Martin and Catherine (Bleckel) Keane. She graduated from Danbury High School and the New England School of Banking at Williams College and attended the American Institute of Banking. She went on to work for the former Union Trust Bank, where she was employed in the Danbury, Southbury and Ridgefield offices. She held many executive positions including assistant vice-president.

She was a member of the Southbury Business Association and the Fairfield County Chapter of the National Association of Bank Women. She also served as state treasurer of the Connecticut Division of the American Cancer Society and treasurer of the Danbury Unit of the American Cancer Society. She served as a member of the Solicitation Committee of the United Way of Tri-State. She was a longtime member of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church. She was married to Leonard J. DePalma.

DePalma is survived by several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents.

Calling hours are Friday, Aug. 1, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. at Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church, Brookfield. Interment will follow in St. Peter Cemetery.
