Thomas J. O’Connor, Of Danbury, Former Ridgewood Country Club Member

BROOKFIELD, Conn. - Thomas J. O'Connor of Brookfield died Tuesday, July 2.  He was 86.

O’Connor was born in The Bronx, N.Y., he lived in Brookfield most of his life. He was a graduate of Iona Preparatory High School. After high school he served in the US Naval submarine service from 1944 to 1946 with a rank of seaman 1st class aboard the USS Segundo.

He received his BA degree from Manhattan College in 1952. He was a vice president of sales in the cement industry for 30 years, retiring in 1987. He was chairman of the membership committee for Ridgewood Country Club in Danbury, from 1985 to 1990.

O’Connor is survived by his wife, Joan (Sweeney) O'Connor; daughters, Cecile O'Connor of Silver Spring, Md., Sheila (James) Kuhn, of New Milford, Debra (Kevin) of St. Louis, Mo., Denise of Brookfield, Sharon (Glenn) Berger of Ossining, N.Y.; seven grandchildren; sisters, Patricia Archibald and family of Hyannis, Mass., and Irene Howard and family of Bremerton, Wash.

There will be no calling hours. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 6 at the Canterbury School Chapel, 101 Aspetuck Ave., New Milford. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Bronx, N.Y. at the convenience of the family.
