BROOKFIELD, Conn. -- Vito Miglinas of Brookfield died Wednesday, Nov. 26. He was 81.
Miglinas was born July 18, 1932, in Enfield, son of John and Josephine (Klimonis) Miglinas. He was a longtime parishioner of St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church.
He was a graduate of Holy Cross College in 1953 with a bachelor's degree in accounting. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the 2nd Armored "Hells on Wheels" Division in Germany. He worked as a postal clerk at the Danbury Post Office, retiring in 2004. Prior to that he managed several Friendly's Restaurants including the Danbury and Bethel locations.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was active with the Boy Scouts in his younger years. He was married to Jane (Kopec).
Miglinas is survived by his sons, Kurt Miglinas (Joan) of Cambridge, Vt., Guy Miglinas and his fiancé, Tracey Rullo of New Fairfield; a daughter, Lynn Lehouiller (Alan); 10 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sister, Margaret Bermani; and a niece. A son, Eric P. Miglinas, died earlier. Calling hours are Sunday, Dec. 1, from 2 to 4 p.m. at Cornell Memorial Home, Danbury, Conn. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 2 at St. Marguerite Bourgeoys Church, Brookfield. Burial will be at St. Peter Cemetery, following the service.
