Winifred L. Beers, 87, Longtime Danbury Resident

DANBURY, Conn. - Winifred L. Beers of Danbury beloved died Tuesday, Aug. 20. She was 87.

Beers was born in New York, N.Y., daughter of Frederick and Elizabeth (Connolly) Leary. She grew up in Ridgefield and graduated from Ridgefield High School. She has been a Danbury resident since 1951 and worked as a telephone operator for the Southern New England Telephone Company, where she was a longtime member of the Telephone Pioneers.

Beers is survived by her son, James Beers (Anne) of Danbury; daughter, Ann Paiva (Ronald) of Fla.; daughter-in-law, Renee Beers of Danbury; brother, Robert G. Leary (Kathy) of Fla.; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; friends, Peggy and Paul Billings; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Clarence Beers; son, Robert Beers; brothers, John P. Leary and Frederick J. Leary; and sister, Elizabeth M. Murphy.

There will be no calling hours. Interment will be private.

Green Funeral Home, 57 Main St., Danbury, is in charge of arrangements.
