Brewster Teen Accused Of Having Sex With Girl, 13, Whom He Met On Facebook

BREWSTER, N.Y. -- A Brewster man has been charged with the rape of a 13-year-old girl he met on Facebook and for sending her nude pictures, according to Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith.

Christian Salazar-Miguel, 18,  was arrested on Dec. 21, in the Town of Carmel following an investigation into a sexual assault that had allegedly occurred at his residence in the Village of Brewster, sheriff's official said.

Salazar-Miguel is accused of having sexual intercourse on Nov. 17 with the 13-year-old girl whom he had met on Facebook. During the investigation, deputies also recovered nude photographs that were sent from Salazar to the underage girl. 

Salazar-Miguel was interviewed by deputies on Wednesday, Dec. 21 at the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department and admitted to both the sexual relationship and the nude photographs, deputies said. 

He was charged with one count each of felony rape, felony disseminating indecent material to a minor, sexual misconduct and endangering the welfare of a child.

Salazar-Miguel is being held at the Putnam County Correctional Facility on $150,000 cash bail or $300,000 bond pending a future appearance in the Village of Brewster Justice Court.

If found guilty of the most serious felony charge, he could face up to a seven years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000. 

Police believe there may be additional victims of Salazar-Miguel. Smith urged any additional victims to come forward so they can receive any services they might require and that justice may be served.
