Edy Morales, 41, was killed July 16, 2016, when he was a passenger in a Jeep traveling on Jane Street in Bridgeport. A group of people threw rocks, a brick and a metal pipe at the Jeep, police said. Morales was hit in the head by the brick and later died of his injuries, according to police.
Jonathan DeJesus was one of four people arrested in connection with Morales's death and was charged with first-degree manslaughter. Police determined that DeJesus had thrown the brick. DeJesus pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter.

At his sentencing Friday, DeJesus was sentenced to 20 years in prison, suspended after he serves eight years, followed by five years of probation, the Connecticut Post reported.
A senior Assistant State's Attorney said at the sentencing that Morales's mother objected to the plea bargain the DeJesus received, and believe that it is too short a sentence, according to the Connecticut Post.
Three other people were also arrested on charges of throwing objects in the incident. Christopher Fonseca, 29, Anthony Martinez, 34, and Mari Vargas, 42, were each charged with first-degree manslaughter last October. They said that they threw the objects becaue the occupants of the Jeep had disrespected them, police said.
