DANBURY, Conn. -- A local bicyclist who was struck and pinned Tuesday morning by an SUV in Danbury died of his injuries, according to the police.

The accident happened at about 8 a.m. in the area of North Street and Madison Avenue, said police Detective Lt. Christian Carroccio. Kim Siladi, 63, of Danbury, turned in front of the bicyclist while making a right turn, he said.

According to Carroccio, Siladi was driving a 2005 Nissan Xterra east on Madison Avenue and turning right onto North Street when she hit the bicyclist, who was northbound on North Street on the west side of the road.

Danbury Fire and medical personnel used extraction tools to lift the bicyclist out from underneath the SUV, police said.

The bicyclist, whose name was withheld until the family was notified, was transported to Danbury Hospital, where he died from his injuries, Carroccio said.

This accident is under investigation by the Danbury Police Department’s Traffic Division.

Anyone who witnessed this collision or has information is asked to call Sgt. Rory DeRocco at 203-797-2157.
