"Dispatcher Rivera's ability to communicate lifesaving emergency protocols under stressful situations has provided best outcome results for individuals who use Danbury 911," said Steven Rogers Jr., communications coordinator and public information officer for the Danbury Fire Department.

He was honored at a dinner Thursday night at Anthony's Lake Club Danbury.

Rivera was hired as a firefighter in 2007 and became Emergency Medical Dispatch certified as well as Department of Public Safety Telecommunicator certified in 2009.

He was promoted to dispatcher in 2013. In March, Rivera expanded his education and fulfilled all requirements to obtain the Total Response Quality Assurance Certification.

"Dispatcher River has demonstrated ultra-resilience, reliability and professionalism," Rogers said. "Rivera's work ethic has created a force multiplier, which increased the effectiveness and efficiency of Danbury Fire and EMS Communications. We congratulate Dispatcher Rivera on this fine achievement."
