Wiedl, who had been assistant chief, was sworn in on Wednesday along with Omasta at Danbury City Hall.
Wiedl has served the Danbury Fire Department for 34 years, holding the ranks of fire fighter, lieutenant, and deputy fire marshal, most recently serving as assistant fire chief for the last seven years. He is a lifelong resident of the City of Danbury. He looks forward to leading the department forward and continuing Danbury's longstanding commitment to serving the public’s needs.
Omasta has served the Danbury Fire Department for 29 years, holding the ranks of fire fighter and lieutenant, and for the last nine years he has been the department’s training officer. He has a longtime commitment to firefighter safety and believes in adopting new ideas and tactics for the fire service. He was recently selected as the “Safety Officer of the Year” by the Fire Service Instructors. Omasta is a lifelong resident of the City of Danbury.
