Danbury Man Charged With Aggravated Driving In Putnam

PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Putnam County Sheriff's Department stopped and charged four people for driving while intoxicated between Sept. 18 and Sept. 20.

The Putnam Sheriff's Department reminds all drivers that if found guilty of a misdemeanor Driving While Intoxicated the fine can be up to $1,000 and a year in jail.

On September 18 at 3:12 p.m., a deputy sheriff responded to a report of an erratic vehicle on Peekskill Hollow Road in the Town of Putnam Valley. The caller reported having observed the vehicle nearly collide with a school bus in traffic. 

The deputy observed the vehicle in the vicinity of Peekskill Hollow Road and New Hill Road, and reported seeing the driver commit a traffic violation. Upon stopping the vehicle, the deputy reported believing the driver, identified as Jose C. Lazo-Arevalo, 38, of Hopewell Junction, was intoxicated. The deputy had Lazo-Arevalo do the standard field sobireity tests, which he reportedly failed. The deputy then charged Lazo-Arevalo with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, 

Lazo-Arevalo was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment.

On September 19 at 2:46 a.m., a deputy sheriff responded to a call regarding a possible intoxicated driver in the vicinity of Route 22 and Deans Corners Road in the Town of Southeast. 

The caller was a taxi driver who reported to have been nearly struck head-on by the suspect vehicle, which also drove off the roadway several times. The deputy responded to the area and observed the suspect vehicle operated erratically. Upon initiating a traffic stop, the deputy determined that the driver, identified as Douglas Jacinto, 22, of Danbury, Connecticut was intoxicated, following his reported failure of the standard field sobiriety tests. 

Jacinto was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility, where his charge was upgraded to Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor. The defendant was held pending arraignment.

On Sept. 19 at 7:59 p.m., a deputy sheriff stopped a motorist who had been driving on the shoulder of Route 52 in the Kent and who had nearly struck another vehicle in traffic. The deputy determined that the driver, identified as Pali Perpepaj, 53, Holmes, was intoxicated following Perpepaj's reported failure of the standard field sobriety tests. 

Perpepaj was charged with a misdemeanor Driving While Intoxicated and was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment.

On Sept. 20 at approximately 12:40 a.m., a deputy sheriff stopped a driver who had committed an unknown traffic violation on Lake Drive in the Town of Putnam Valley. The deputy determined that the driver, identified as Heath L. Salvati, 38 Watertown, Connecticut was intoxicated after he reportedly failed the standard field sobriety tests. 

Salvati was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment.
